三条鍛冶道場の由来

三条は古くから金物のまち三条として全国に知られ、現在では全国有数の金物産業都市と言われるまでに発展しています。
この発展の源は和釘づくりから始まる鍛冶の技術と、ものづくりへのあくなき挑戦精神にあります。
平成5年度に鍛冶職人の方々の熱意により切り出し小刀づくりの体験講座「三条鍛冶道場」を開講し、様々な鍛冶体験事業を実施してきました。

三条鍛冶道場は平成17年度に伝統技術とものづくり精神を次世代に継承し、新たに発展させるための研修施設として開設しました。
三条鍛冶道場では、鍛冶や木工等に関わる後継者の育成及び伝統技術の伝承事業、市民を対象としてものづくり体験研修の実施や小中学校の総合学習の場として活用されています。

市民をはじめ県内外の皆様からのご利用をお待ちしております。

THE HISTORY OF SANJO’S BLACKSMITH

In the 14th century, the city of Sanjo was formed when the town using the water transport from the Shinano river was separated. During the Samurai era, Sanjo was an important Location for the military. In the 17th century, a peaceful era was coming, the Rdo Shogunate demolished Sanjo’s Castle and the samurai left Banjo. In replace of weapons, crop fields were opening, burning the demand for farming tools. Also,due to the frequent fires during the Edo era, there was a vast demand for nails, brining many skilled craftsmen to the area creating a community of blacksmith. In addition, mani merchants used the Shinano River to transport products through the whole country. These merchants were able to discover new products and customer needs throughout Japan and brought these ideas back to Sanjo’s blacksmith. Due to the proposals brought back by merchants, various items such as knives,scissors and other various cutleries started being made. For a long time, craftsmen and merchants governed Sanjo. Presently, due to the modernization of crafts, many forging and press machine businesses are widely used to supply machine parts for car manufacturers and OA equipment machinery, etc. There are many craftsmen in Sanjo preserving traditional techniques of matching soft iron and hard trees to make various types of cutlery, however, there are many craftsmen that don’t follow traditional techniques. Scientific inspection and expertise utilizing metal microscopes.Thus,to collaborate with the modern changes in people’s lives, modern changes are continuing to be incorporated with the products being made.

三条鍛冶道場

日本の金属加工の原点である「鍛冶」。
それは日本刀をつくる刀鍛冶の世界だけでなく、木工・農業・漁業・調理といった、堅いものから、柔らかいものまで、多用な場所で多用なものを着る道具や、刀以外の様々な道具や金具など私たちの身近な製品は「鍛冶」技術によって生み出されており、「鍛冶」は私達の暮らしを豊かにしてくれています。三条鍛冶道場は産業の基礎である鍛冶技術を人々にしってもらうとともに、技術の継承と産地の活性化を図ることを目的とした、ものづくり体験施設として平成17年度に開設しました。

その前身は、平成5年度に鍛冶職人の方々の熱意により切り出し小刀作りの体験講座「さんじょう鍛冶道場」を開講し、さまざまな家事体験事業を実施してきたことにあります。地元の鍛冶職人のアドバイスを受けながら、三条鍛冶道場では「和釘づくり」や「庖丁研ぎ」など、いつでも本格的な鍛冶技術が体験できます。

ORIGIN OF JAPANESE METAL PROCESSING ’BLACKSMITH’

Japanese blacksmith not only made swords, but items such as; various tools, metal fixtures, items related to woodworking, agriculture, fishing and cooking. In order to create a more enriched livelihood for the blacksmith, they used their knowledge and techniques to make these various items Sanjo Blacksmith Training Hall was founded on the basis of teaching people traditional blacksmith techniques in order to preserve these techniques and revitalize production areas.in 2005, in order to reach the goal of teaching people these blacksmith techniques, our facility was established for people to get personal hands-on experience of craftmanship. Previously in1993, with the enthusiasm of various blacksmith, Sanjo Blacksmith raining Hall began implementing various hands-on manufacturing experiences. While receiving advice from local blacksmith, Sanjo Blacksmith Training Hall created hands-on courses to experience the true blacksmith techniques of making Japanese nails, sharpening knives, etc.
